ABSTRACTThis study explores the impact of information and communications technologies (ICTs) adoption on social communication and evangelization in Catholic-based institutions. Employing across section research design with a mixed-methods approach, the study evaluated existing ICTs strategies, identifies effective gospel-spreading avenues, and offers practical recommendations for enhancing ICT skills among religious practitioners. Data was collected from 181 participants using questionnaires, four focus group discussions, and 8 key informant interviews.
The study reveals varying perceptions within the Catholic Church regarding ICT adoption. While ICTs are recognized for enhancing engagement, participation, and evangelization, discrepancies exist regarding resource allocation, audience reach, and behavior change. Collaboration between religious leaders, practitioners, and technology experts is crucial for future ICT adoption strategies. Addressing limited technical expertise, resistance to change, and content alignment with religious principles is essential while optimizing resources, conducting targeted outreach, continuous evaluation, and contextual adaptation are key components of future ICT efforts. Recommendations encompass customized training, self-paced learning platforms, external collaborations, and practical skill-enhancing events. Implementing these suggestions will enable religious institutions to navigate the digital age effectively while advancing their religious mission.
